Nobody likes preparing for standardized tests. But at Collegewise, we make test prep as painless as possible (we would say “pain-free” but you know that would be an exaggeration). We don’t offer classes; we only work with WESTCHESTER students in a one-on-one setting because we believe that's the most effective way to work with a student. We only hire the best tutors in our fabulous county. They’ve not only scored very well on these tests when they were in high school, but they also have to complete our training and prove to us that they are gifted teachers before we’ll put them on our staff. And we track our tutors’ results very closely so we always know how well they’re doing.
Most students do one hour of math and one hour of verbal prep every week. How many weeks a student works with us all depends on how high a student wants to score. The average SAT improvement for our students is around 260 points and the average ACT improvement is around 5 points. We have lots of students who have raised their scores over 400 points. We’ve even had a couple students score perfect 2400s after working with us (College Board says that typically there are about 300 students nationally who do this out of the 2 million who take the test).
We don’t like these tests any more than most students do, but we’ve found what we think are the best ways prepare so you can get the score you need and move on with your life.
