Educational Series #9
Owning a timeshare is like owning a discount travel program. I'm sure you vacation at least 1 week per year and probably more. How much are you paying per night for rooms? Most folks are paying a minimum of $100 to $150 per night for a hotel room - this is the industry standard or average - and that is for 2 people. You are probably paying more than $150 per night for a room in a nice hotel or condo for your whole family (4 to 6 people). If you like to travel higher end resorts you are probably paying $200 to $500 per night.
Owning timeshare, you pay a yearly maintenance fee. Most maintenance fees are based upon a 40% to 70% discount from the rental rate at the resort and they usually sleeps 4-6 people. This means you will be paying usually $65 to $125 per night for a room that sleeps 4-6 people. In all cases, you will be paying way below the national average for room rates. If you vacation every year, you can save 100's of dollars by owning a timeshare and paying maintenance fees rather than paying for Hotel or Motel costs - and the biggest benefit of timeshare is staying in 4 to 5 star resort with several amenities, and sleeping capacity of up to 8 people (average 4-6 people).
Timeshare upfront costs. Yes, you do pay a one time upfront price for the condo - like you do you’re home. Think of that upfront price as a sellable asset. Most timeshares we have for sale are priced at $99 to $1999 one time price. This is deeded real estate that sold at the resort for $15,000 to $20,000 - up to 99% off market prices. You can't lose if you’re buying your timeshare for the upfront price of under $2000 - barter or cash - this is a sellable investment.
Now is the time to buy - at up to 99% off. When the economy turns around, timeshare will an investment that will grow in value and you will be smiling all the way to the bank in addition to saving money every year on your room rates.
